Comment: This is my 4th time buying a vehicle from South Coast Toyota, with Kevin Tompkins. He is very helpful, and always accomodating. Pricing is very fair (given how other dealerships really jack up above MSRP). Service dept is awesome. With this purchase, Service Mgr Jason really attended to the items needed on my vehicle (eg the Cilajet), and other ancillary items I had added on. I wish this dealership was closer to me, as I would prefer to bring my vehicles for service here. I can tell they are of excellent quality, just based on Jason (svc manager) being very visible and involved with the process going on. I noticed it when I was waiting for my vehicle, on a very busy Saturday am. He was out there, being attentive and making sure customers were being addressed immediately.

Confirmed that I was not getting the right car (missing options that were a personal requirement for me). I did not intend to buy from here, but the way Paul and Vince (and later Scott in finance) treated me, I could not say “No”. They worked to close the sale, and I could not be happier with the results from this visit. No more long trips up the El Monte area for that big Toyota dealer that the family had been buying from for years. This will be where we go first – and after this experience I doubt we’ll need to go to others. First class service here. I got exactly what I wanted, and they got exactly what they deserve – a new customer.

Comment: Purchasing our RAV4 at South Coast Toyota was fairly straightforward. With the shortage of RAV4s, Toyota’s approach of pre-configuring them and just sending them to Toyota dealerships, it was definitely a challenge to get what we wanted without a bunch of extra stuff we didn’t want to pay for. I couldn’t find a Toyota dealership that was willing to take an order for a new RAV4, where we got to choose all the options.Our sales person, Tom, made the process easier by taking down a list of what we wanted, and letting us know when a car similar to what we wanted was being shipped to them. I’m very thankful for having Tom as our sales person. Bryan, our sales manager, was up-front about where he was willing to negotiate on the vehicle. There wasn’t a huge amount of back and forth. We knew what we were willing to pay for the vehicle under the current conditions, and we ended up with a decent price. The finance manager, Joe, was also approachable and willing to negotiate on the extended warranty/add-ons.The process for negotiating Toyota Extra-care was as simple as making an offer, which Joe sent to Toyota corporate via their email, and they accepted within 15 minutes or so. Our offer was in the range of prices I found in current articles on Consumer Affairs, Jalopnik, and Motor Trends, so a fair price, and not some amazingly low price.The one thing all Toyota dealerships are doing right now, including South Coast Toyota, that I think will eventually come back to haunt them, is charging a “Market Adjustment Fee”, because of the high demand and low supply from Toyota. People are going to remember this market adjustment, and will likely demand deeper discounts when the market flips. South Coast Toyota’s Market Adjustment Fee was a bit less than the nearby Tustin Toyota. Also South Coast Toyota was much more honest with us about the fee, where-as Tustin Toyota gave us a price, and then tried to negotiate it up $2k after I told them they were too high to begin, claiming the original fee price the sales person mentioned was the “Fleet Price”. Needless to say, we immediately walked out of Tustin Toyota, and ended up over at South Coast Toyota at that point. The way a dealership treats their customers at the beginning of the transaction, in my opinion, is indicative of how they will treat them after the sale, and South Coast Toyota definitely treated us better.So why not 5 stars. There was a bit of work I had to do to correct the sales office mistakes in getting the financing completed with my bank. I went in pre-approved, and had a funding request form the sales office just needed to fill out and follow the directions to submit. On the form, they missed the checkbox authorizing the bank to deposit the funds to their account. Thankfully, my bank was on the ball, and notified me of the issue. It took about a week to get straightened out, and Bryan at South Coast Toyota was generally easy to work with on it.Overall, it was a good experience, with some room to improve.

They made sure that I got a fair price on the new car that I wanted as well as the trade in value for my old car. They showed limitless patience with all of my texts and phone calls, taking the time to answer my questions and keeping me updated on the status of my car. Padra went the extra mile (literally) and brought the car to my home when my schedule made it difficult for me to find time to get to the dealership. Before finding South Coast Toyota, I left another dealership in tears because I was feeling pressured by the salesman and manager. The difference between my experience there and at South Coast Toyota was night and day. Thanks to Padra and Kaela I am now happily behind the wheel of my new car!

The negative stereotype attached to car sales and dealerships exist for a reason. It is a complicated process whereby a consumer can very easily be taken advantage of if theyre unfamiliar with navigating through the different stages of buying a car. The day came when it was ready for me to pick up the car and sign the paperwork with the terms in the finance office. This is where the deal went sour and I ended up taking my deposit back and walking away. I communicated my disappointment regarding my experience to the GM Chad Roberts via email that night.The next day, Chad responded to my email and called me to apologize for the experience and wanted to turn things around. The resolution he offered was generous and steered the course to a positive outcome. They delivered the car to my home along with the paperwork to ensure that no more of my time was wasted. They accommodated my request to email the paperwork to me for review prior to delivering the car that night.Brett Dillon did a great job with demonstrating the vehicle and answering my questions. He has good active listening skills and follow through. He even picked up my car from my work place the following day to take back to service for the security alarm system installation. Its the kind of white glove treatment you would typically expect from a luxury brand. Completely unexpected but wholeheartedly appreciated.The business of buying cars is never going to be 100% smooth and trouble free but the recovery is equally, if not more important than a flawless transaction. Thank you Jeff, Chad and Brett for a memorable sales experience. Im very pleased to have South Coast Toyota as my go-to dealership!

I work with Ray in the Service Department and he oversees the work that needs to be done on my vehicle and has always explained things to me in terms that I can understand and quotes me the cost of the work, prior to proceeding. Ray keeps me updated as the work is being done and calls me when my vehicle is ready to be picked up. He is a pleasure to work with.*****Most recently I had an emergency with my vehicle and it just wouldnt start. (I was in the parking lot of a medical complex.) My first call was to AAA and my second call was to Ray in the Service Department. Ray directed me to bring it right in. AAA determined it was my almost 5 year old battery, so I didnt need a tow. The vehicle was charged and we drove to South Coast Toyota, where the battery was replaced and general maintenance completed and I was done that very day! SCT also provided transportation home while my vehicle was being worked on. They are the BEST!

Comment: I was pre-approved for a car loan by Capital One Navigator. The car I found was here at South Coast Toyota. I went in to purchase the car. My salesman was great, a small issue came up in the one place it always does, finance🙄. Although I was pre approved for the car I wanted, Capital One would only give me a 60 month loan @ 4.45% so I asked if they could find me financing on a 72 month loan. They came back with 6.69%. I declined and told them to go ahead and go thru Capital One. So I go to sign the loan docs and as we’re going thru the papers, I was already aware of the “buyers remorse” doc, that’ll cost you $500, declined.The trick came in with an “additional car alarm” (Rockledge Security System) that I said I didn’t want as my car came with a factory installed alarm system. The finance manager said they it put in all their pre-owned vehicles before purchase and that I had NO option but to keep it, at $350! He didn’t even take $350 off the price of the car when I insisted I didn’t want it. I get home and finally see the doc for the additional security system and it says “optional”, “not required for purchase”! 😤😤A day later my power tailgate wouldn’t open correctly. 3 days later the alarm won’t go off and the car won’t start. I called and spoke with a different finance manager. He assured me they’d take care of it with no expense to me. It turned out that the battery was going out so they replaced it with a new one, at no cost. Makes up for that car alarm I was forced to purchase 😁

I was in and out very quickly.I loathe working with the finance manager as they are extremely aggressive in selling their warranties. Not for me. He was very friendly, efficient. He explained all the different warranties. I simply said no thank you and he left it at that. None of the, Are you sure?, You could be saving money etc. Fastest paperwork and painless.Lastly, after the purchase, I had to fill out one more paperwork and Karim volunteered to meet me halfway ( I live 1.5 Hours away)! Above and beyond what is expected from a car salesman. In fact, because of him, my friend bought also a Toyota that same day!Overall A+ experience. Karim is the man!

Comment: Ray, in service has helped memultiple times. He always keeps me up to speed on what’s happening with my vehicle. Typical service appointments are done quickly and efficiently. The repair costs aren’t cheapest however having the job done right and Toyota factory parts used is worth the cost to me.All in all I recommend them for service and maintainence. I prefer to know my Toyota was worked on by a factory mechanic.

He answered his phone when I called and and kept me updated. The work was done in a timely manner. The valet and cashier were both friendly, knowledgeable and efficient at their jobs. Everyone was personable. Im glad I bought my truck there and that I get to have it serviced there.

Mark was fantastic in getting me a rental when I expressed some concerns with my vehicle during a general maintenance appointment. Comment: I got a flat tire and needed my car the next day. South Coast Toyota called me, worked around my work schedule, and told me exactly when to come in to get my car serviced as soon as possible. They fit me in on a Friday night, which was very helpful! The Toyota reps talked me through my options to fix the car, weighing each option carefully with me and helped me figure out the payment. They even washed my car for me, even though I didnt ask!This dealership is extremely friendly, helpful, and trustworthy!! I only go to this dealership for my service!

Comment: Mark Anderson was beyond helpful! My husband and I drove to South Coast Toyota from Los Angeles, forgetting that we were supposed to make an appointment for maintenance and Mr.Anderson was the first person to come to our side and help us out. He took time out of his day to make sure our car was in good order and did everything perfectly! We didn’t even have to wait for long and our 2018 Toyota Camry was back to new and better! He had a great attitude and didn’t mind that he was busy, but still fit us into his schedule. He genuinely made our day! If we could give him 10 stars, we would!

Comment: I am happy with service over all. My car was in the shop for two days. On the 2nd day Toyota gave me a loaner. I picked up my car on the 3rd day because I wasn’t able to get to them before the close. My car was brought out dirty, big smudges all over the car. I turned in my car clean, wish it was returned to be in the same condition. Last time I was in for service, they gave me a complimentary wash, I don’t know what happened this time.I am happy over all, just heads up guys, please clean the smudges off, it only takes a few minutes, makes a big difference to a customer though. Of course pricing is high, they are a dealership, but I’d rather have them do the work. I used to go to Pep Boys, but they always made mistakes like: wrong filter sizes, wrong oil was used for my vehicle. So I am confident South Coast Toyota does proper repairs, but you pay the price for that. Again, over all I am happy.

Comment: This is by far the best service Ive ever gotten at a dealership. I didnt have to wait long for someone to come help me. Jon Levasseur, the Service Manager, was super efficient, friendly, and professional. I also utilized the free shuttle service and the guy who drove me and picked me up when my car was ready was the nicest driver. I didnt get his name, but he made the ride from/to the dealership painless and enjoyable. I highly recommend South Coast Toyota if you need to go the dealership for service. I wont be going to any other Toyota in the future.

Comment: Dennis was extremely helpful in making our car buying experience enjoyable. He offered his assistance immediately, even though we didnt have an appointment. We live out of town and originally were only going to test drive the three cars we were interested in and get comparison on the specs and pricing. But Dennis was so welcoming we felt comfortable enough to buy. He even had patience with my wife when she couldnt decide which interior she liked best between two cars. Sometimes going to a dealership you feel like just another number but Dennis made us feel like friends. We appreciate quality customer service and the people who give more than the minimum. There is no wonder why Dennis was awarded salesperson of the year for the last two years. Even the gentleman who helped us in the financial department was great. All in all would definitely recommend South Coast Toyota to our friends and family.

Comment: Richie took great care of me when I needed a transmission flush on my aging 2004 Toyota Tacoma. this was my first time at South Coast Toyota. I was most impressed with their responsiveness compared to other dealers.They were busy today and I left a message to get a price on the service. I got a call back in a few minutes, made an appointment and when I showed up, I was treated like a regular. Staff was clean and neat, waiting area was clean and neat. Service agreement was written up quick and Richie knew exactly what I wanted with no additional pushiness or added services. He was to the point and transparent.During the day I ran errands with my wife and received regular and accurate updates on my service status. That was a huge plus for me!I just moved to Costa Mesa, I have two Toyota trucks and I feel grateful to have a service department down the street I can trust. I will be bringing my 2006 tacoma in next to get service at South Coast Toyota. Thanks Richie!

Comment: I like that I am able to drop off my car the night before and have the team work on it the next day. Staff are always courteous and, I think, take care of everything my car needs- including a free wash!I wouldve preferred the recall have been taken care of, which wasnt because they didnt have the parts- even though they knew I was bringing the car in and that it had a recall. A little room for improvement, but overall, trustworthy and reliable service.
