This was a challenging situation: the home was in a trust created by now-deceased parents and my co-trustee and live in separate states outside of California. Melissa handled this difficult situation with care and grace. Thanks to her, we started the updating process in February, listed the house in March, and closed in April.She suggested the updates that were the best investment to add value to the home, managed the workers, and spent her own time shopping for the items (such as plants, light fixtures, carpet, etc.) that we needed to make the house shine. She arranged for the staging, appraisal - basically whatever we needed to get this done. She did all of this without charging us anything above her selling commission. Not only did she help me get a great deal when buying this home she became a good friend and outstanding designer. Melissa, designed everything from flooring, decor, kitchen, counters, lightening, painting and so much more. I’m a single guy and an engineer so this is not my forte. We interviewed 3 when Melissa came HIGHLY recommended. My wife and I made a split decision to sell our home while the market was still hot. My wife had a good friend that was a broker in another state mind you and had expressed an interest in selling our house but, before we could say another word my wifes friend said I have the perfect realtor there in San Diego for you someone she had refereed clients to in the past⁰. Thats how we found Melissa. We scheduled a day to have Melissa out to look at our home and make any suggestions on whats needed to move forward with selling.Within 3 hrs of leaving our house Melissa had emailed a spreadsheet which outlined details of the work she recommended. Finding Melissa was like having a rescue boat come and make everything smooth sailing.I had originally started by messaging the representing realtors on Zillow for properties I was interested, contacting “The GreenHouse Group” through yelp, and contacting another realtor my friend had worked with, while I was still overseas. Disappointed by the lack of responsiveness, and lack of information about the areas I had been looking at, I reached out to my Relator I worked with in Hawaii, Erik Taniguchi, and asked if he had someone he could recommend working with in San Diego – he recommended Melissa Huk, and I am beyond glad he did. The key differences that set Melissa apart from the others I had started to work with, but decided not to proceed:1. She was responsive, by phone, email and in person – usually within minutes or hours, never more than a day to reply to any question I had or to keep my transaction on track.2. She knows the area. She gave great tips on what areas to live or not live in – took us to places that were safe to see and live at.3. When my mother and I finally found a place we liked, and were in contract, she put the winning offer together for us and we got the place we wanted!4. I have to say when she was referred to my husband and we were in a very crazy position. We had just put a down payment on a home out of state and needed to get rid of our home in Poway right away. I talked to Melissa on the phone when I was in michigan before I came to San Diego for house hunting. I knew the moment I talked to melissa that she was the right agent for me. Not only did she know San Diego inside out but also she was extremely attentive, friendly, experienced and understood my needs completely.A couple days before I arrived in San Diego, Melissa had already has a plan on the properties that we should look at and provided me with pros and cons on each property and the respective areas. Comment: I was laid off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and needed to make some big life decisions and move on them quickly. I decided to sell my house and move back to the Seattle area and did some asking around and Melissa came highly recommended by others at Keller Williams and now I know why.Melissa met with me on Wednesday July 29th and I let her know what my situation was and I let her know that I wanted to have my house on the market by Monday August 3rd. This review will serve as a two in one review.About 7 years ago Melissa helped me and my former husband buy our first home in Fallbrook and we bought it knowing we had a lot of work to do to bring it to today’s standards. Melissa no doubt made that happen for us and helped us get a great deal by really negotiating the price down by $20k. She would work late nights, early mornings, even on the weekends just to help us. She navigated through finding us the best financing to walking us through how the escrow process worked and what to expect so that there were no surprises along the way. We all know that nothing is smooth sailing but, when the tough got going Melissa was a fierce advocate for us to the end and beyond! Fast forward to now, 8 years later, my former spouse and I finalized our divorced earlier this year and the first person I called to help me through what I knew would be a difficult process Melissa once again came to my rescue and helped me figure a way to buy out my former spouse and take out a small loan to renovate and maximize my return on investment. She handled all the remodeling projects, met with every contractor from start to finish and if a project wasn’t done correctly she had them do it over until it was right.
